Honey came to live with us about 3 years ago to be my daughter’s first horse, she is 19 now and has previously come from a heavy showing home where she was trailered at least twice a month if not more to shows and events. Everything with Honey seemed ok at first until we started noticing horrible moodiness. She was cinchy, starting nipping and even kicked at my daughter on more than one occasion. I tried supplement after supplement with little to no progress with her behavior. I wasn’t going to give up on this mare because she has had more than 10 different homes before coming to live with us.

It wasn’t until mid- winter of 2014 that I reached out to her with an apple in my hand and she frowned at me, turned and walked off to go sulk in a corner of her pen. I remember the tears filling my eyes and I started to feel hopeless that we wouldn’t ever get to the bottom of what exactly was going on with her. It felt like she hated her life and hated us.

It just so happened that our farrier was coming that next day. The farrier began trimming Honey and she couldn’t stand still and I looked her in the eyes and she looked pitiful. Her entire facial demeanor with her pinned back ears just screamed something was wrong. The farrier and I got to talking and I was venting to him about everything and even her weird eating habits and how she would avoid food. He said, “have you had her checked for ulcers?” I thought about it and made an appointment right away with the vet.

Long story short vet came out did a full evaluation and her test came back positive for ulcers and hind gut ulcers as well which from what I hear are extremely hard to treat and fully get rid of. My vet gave me a long list of options costing more than I could ever possibly afford and still buy groceries for a family of five. I turned to the internet, friends and even family trying to figure out what in the world I could do to treat this for Honey.

I came across many articles where people were treating ulcers naturally. Then I contacted a friend and with her wonderful support and guidance I started Honey on Dynamite’s Foundation Program (TNT, 1 to 1 Free Choice, 2 to 1 Free Choice, Izmine, NTM Salt and Dyna Pro) first and then started mixing up Dynamite’s Miracle Clay daily and administered that for 2 weeks along with Dynamite’s Trace Minerals and Dynamite’s Excel.

After 2 weeks on those things I decided I really just wanted some confirmation that her ulcers were in fact gone so we made a vet appointment exactly 35 days from the day she tested positive. Vet came out and administered the test again and we received the news that she was in fact ulcer FREE!

It has been almost 5 months since she tested ulcer free and she is doing better than ever! She is still on the Foundation Program (TNT, 1 to 1 Free Choice, 2 to 1 Free Choice, Izmine, NTM Salt and Dyna Pro) now along with Excel and we do not ever intend to stop giving it! Her coat just glows and instead of walking off with pinned ears she trots right up to the gate when she sees me coming with a sweet nicker every morning!! It’s been a miracle, I feel like Dynamite is a miracle because it gave us our Honey back!
